Each yoga class at Beyond Postures yoga is an individualized and unique experience. You will be guided through a variety of postures, stretches and movements drawn from basic hatha yoga, yoga therapy, somatic and mindfulness-based practices. We will practice observation skills thereby developing our capacity to concentrate, focus and stay present. This kind of mindful listening and responding to our physical sensations and our inner subjective experiences through movement, guided breathing, meditation and focus deepens inner awareness and a sense of wholeness. The rewards of this kind of focused practice are a greater sense of inner peace, wholeness, stability, balanced energy (physical, mental/emotional and spiritual) and calmness. In this way we begin to develop ‘mindfulness’ - that is, we grow our capacity to be present to what is before us, accepting and less defensive - enabling us to be more mindful and compassionate toward ourselves and others in the choices we make in our everyday life experiences.

Organic Movement is a natural and simple therapeutic movement that anyone, of any age, or any condition can do!.

Organic Movement is a richly rewarding way to move by focusing on what is showing up in your body, right now, at this moment, connecting with your body’s inner messages and moving from the inside. When you turn the controls over to your body instead of moving from your mind or how you think you should be moving, or from the teacher’s perspective of how and what you should do with your body, you can connect with your body’s innate wisdom and it will lead you where you need to go for healing, health and well-being. It is fun, enlivening, releases stress and tension, and brings about a harmonious and compassionate relationship between your mind and your body. When you connect with your own body’s inner movement yoga becomes a personal practice.

Psychosynthesis: We have within us a natural drive to grow. This growth process happens on many levels: biological, emotional, mental and spiritual. This process is innate and its goal is harmonious maturation - a process of self-realization.
Guided Psychosynthesis: Whereas it is most common in western clinical perspectives to view our growth process from a negative and patholigcal orientation focusing on weaknesses and deficits, psychosynthesis has a positive, strengths oriented wholistic body-mind-spirit pespective which draws from the western tradition of humanistic psychology and from the ancient pereninial eastern wisdom of Yogic philosophy - a psycho-spiritual psychology. This synthesis of eastern and western perspectives invites us to explore our own unique unfolding in a non-pathologizing way,to identify and respond to those moments that draw us toward fulfilling our innate potentials and to address blocks that distort or prevent us from harmonious maturation. When we actively engage in our own unfolding in this way we experience greater satisfaction in life, in our relationships with others, and in how we actualize our hopes and dreams.
In an individual Guided Psychosynthesis session you will be supported in identifying and exploring your personal process through reflection and guided exercises that help you identify and evaluate where you are, how you are being with that, and where you want to be. There is no right or wrong - only what it is that is calling to you in your life at this moment. This process can help you identify ‘next steps’ in your life.
