~ Guided Deep Relaxation ~

No prior yoga or meditation experience is necessary.

Explore your own natural inner rhythms (body, mind and spirit) through guided centering practices that include: gentle and restorative yoga, organic movement, guided meditations, guided journeying, guided imagery, and guided inner dialogue.  The goal is to facilitate coming into presence and an awakening and psychosynthesis of hidden or untapped potentials and qualities that may add balance, joy, and bring about new meaningful engagement in life.

Whether your purpose is to relax, heal, rejuvenate, or to develop greater self-awareness, this workshop will provide an opportunity for you to listen to and be with your own natural process and rhythm of psychosynthesis - of connecting with inner untapped potentials.

Just as the waves emerge and recede, by deep listening and mindful presence the process of psychosynthesis allows emerging needs and potentials to come to surface, gently acknowledging and releasing ‘blocks’ that keep this emergence from fuller realization. Psychosynthesis is a natural, creative and ongoing process toward self-realization.

The beautiful mid-coast of Maine is immersed in the natural rhythms of nature and provides an ideal eco-synthesis setting for this kind of retreat..

About the facility:

Belfast Yoga and Retreat Center in Belfast, Maine, located mid-way up the coast of Maine, is an historic New England coastal village founded in the 1700s.  It has many beautiful homes built by ship masters in the Georgian and New England style. The Belfast Yoga and Retreat Center is located in the historic district within walking distance (5 blocks) from the harbor. You will be staying in a renovated ‘New England’ style house with a large attached barn that is now the yoga studio.  This house was built in 1895 by my great-grandfather on land that was owned by his father since1865 and has been in my family except for a brief hiatus (30 years).  In 2008 it went on the market and we brought it back into the family.  It has always been an ‘open’ and inviting house for friends and family and it led me to the idea to continue that tradition and open it to you as well.    It has room to sleep 5-6 people: 2 rooms with twin beds and 1 room with a queen size bed.  The yoga and healings arts program can accommodate up to 12 people. (Please inquire about other local lodging options if rooms at the center are full.)   In our renovations we have aimed to maintain the historic and New England character of the house while bringing in modern comfort and amenities.  The Barn has three levels.  The lower level at one time contained horse stalls, the first level is the yoga studio and the 3rd level is a workshop and artist’s studio.  We have an enclosed “piazza” and an open side porch for relaxation.   This picturesque town offers lots of opportunity for hiking, boating, live theatre, garden and art walks, sitting at the ocean’s edge in quiet reflection, dining out, and lots of artist’s studios! Easily assessibale from the Portland, ME Internaitonal Airport (1 1/2 hr drive); Logan Airport in Boston, MA (4 hr drive); Manchester Aiprot in NH (3 hr. drive); or the Bangor, Me airport (40 minute drive).
