THAI ASSISTED YOGA THERAPY 1 1/2 hr -$85 - 2 hr: $110 Wiith Dianne Mekelburg M.Ed., ERYT, Certified PRYT and Thai Yoga Therapy Practitioner 410-409-2295
The ultimate experience in deep body tension release!
An energy practice that brings about deep muscle relaxation, opens tight and aching joints, stretches the whole body, clears the lymphatic system and releases tight facia.
Thai Yoga Massage Therapy is not “massage” in the popular western use of that term. For one thing, the client is fully clothed, it is performed on a mat on the floor, and there is no kneading of muscles. Rather, the client is held (supported) in a yoga posture, sometimes using props like a bolster, so that the client can more deeply relax. The practitioner uses a rhythmic rocking motion to gently lean into points along the energy lines that run through the body (similar to the energy lines in Chinese acupuncture), stretching and opening the muscles and joints in the body. The practitioner may use his or her thumbs, palms, elbows, forearms, feet or knees while leaning into these lines.
Lotus Palm Thai Assisted Yoga Therapy is a gentle yet deep practice. Dianne is trained in Ayurvedic Assessment for determining each client’s unique consitutional type and Marma Point Therapy. This gives her the added approach to meet the unique needs and comfort level of each individual client. Marma points are sensitive junctions where muscle and tendons meet and when gentle held with some presurre or slow circling motions opens and clears the energy channels (sen lines) in the body. Each session is cusotmized to meet the needs of each client.
The result is a sense of emotional and mental well beiing, physical comfort and ease, and wholeness. Many times clients expereince pain releif in just one session. This is so becasue held tensions are released creating a free flow of balanced energy. There is an overall cleansing of toxins from the body (muscles and joints) resulting in less stiffness and pain. The overall effect is a profound sense of centered well-being, peacefulness, rejuvenation and restoration. During the session many clients experience a state of Yoga Nidra, a very restorative and deep healing form of relaxed consciousness. No prior yoga experience is required.
Historic background of the practice of Thai Assisted Yoga Therapy: This Eastern Ayurvedic practice was developed by an Ayurvedic doctor, Jivaka Kumarbhacha, in India over 2000 years ago as a response to the bodily aches and pains of the monks at the temple who sat for long periods of time in meditation pose. As such, it combines the science of Ayurveda with yoga and with the underlying principle of “metta” – the Buddhist principle of loving kindness. It gets to the heart of what is behind any yogic based healing practice: compassion. The effect of a compassionate presence, along with the knowledge of how energy (prana) moves in the body and yoga postures, is subtle and deep healing. During a time of political turmpoil the practice left India and settled with the monks in Thailand. It is a healing practice that is used worldwide and is a routine form of health care throughout Thailand.
